Well folk, the fishing has been outstanding up to this point. I have landed more brown trout over 22 inches than ever before. Multiple two footers have been captured. Obviously, we have some upper age class fish in the river.

May is a great month to fly fish the Missouri River. The water temps are starting to warm a bit and the fish are really responding. Hatches are the Mother’s Day caddis and March Browns.

The old saying, “You should have been here yesterday” really applies to the late April fly-fishing. We were lucky with the weather and the big brown trout really came out to play.

Time to get the dust off the rods and get ready. I always say the early bird gets the worm, not really but when it comes to fishing on Montana’s Missouri River then, yes.

Time to start fishing. Spring has sprung here in Montana. The streamer bite is on, and some dry fly stuff is around the corner. We always offer a spring discount for April.

The fishing season is winding down. Some great fishing happens this time of year but all good things must end. I’m still fishing but also taking a few bow hunters. The fall is busy for this guy.

After a hot summer with low water conditions we have made the transition into cooler weather. Along with the cooler air and shorter days the water temps are going down. Trout get real active during these times!

Well, the best month of the year is here. By best, I mean Montana Fly-Fishing. This is the month when dry-fly fishing on the Missouri River is at it’s best! We have seen a few fish starting to rise.

I had the pleasure to guide a client of mine who loves to fish with his family. Pat has 3 children and has taken all 3 kids on fly-fishing trips to Montana.

Well, the spring special was a smash! It was a brown trout marathon for sure. Looking forward, the month of May is fishing good. I hate to make predictions about the river conditions but, unless we get a major amount of rain we will be out of water.
